In short
- This website does not use cookies. It stores nothing on your device unless you press a control on the radio bar. Then your browser remembers that one choice (paused, muted, volume) and never sends it to us.
- We do not count or record your visits. If we start counting, we will change this notice first.
- The radio bar on every page plays our own radio from our own server.
- Our server keeps technical logs for up to 15 days. Where a log line holds an IP address, the last part of the address is removed.
- A few older logs still hold full IP addresses while we finish deleting them. Section 2 lists them with their dates.
- Questions, or you want to object? Write to privacy@gradiva.co.uk.
1. Who is responsible
Gradiva Limited ("we", "us") is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. We are a company registered in England, company number 14846114, with our registered office at 278 Langham Road, London, England, N15 3NP.
You can contact us about anything in this notice at privacy@gradiva.co.uk.
2. What happens when you visit
When your browser asks our server for a page, the request carries some technical information: your IP address, the page you asked for, a short description of your browser and device (the "user agent") and, if your browser sends it, the website you came from. Every website receives this. Our server uses it to send you the page. It does not write a record of your visit.
What we do not do:
- We do not set cookies. The only thing this website ever stores on your device is the radio choice described in section 3, and only after you press a radio control.
- We do not fingerprint your device. No script on this website sends details about your device to us or to anyone else. (The radio player checks whether your browser can change the volume of a sound, only so that it can play the radio; the answer stays in your browser.)
- We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking or social-media services from anyone else, and the pages load nothing from other companies' servers. Apart from this website, the only address your browser connects to from our pages is our own radio server (section 3).
Technical logs. Like any server, ours keeps technical logs to block attacks and find faults. They do not record your visits to this website. Where a log line holds an IP address (for example the address behind an error), the last part of the address is removed before it is written. These logs are kept for up to 15 days.
Older logs we are still deleting. Three sets of older logs hold full IP addresses:
- Until 12 October 2026 this website ran on a server in the United States (Ashburn, Virginia), rented from Hetzner. That server's system logs still hold IP addresses of earlier visits. We are deleting them and plan to finish on 13 October 2026.
- On 12 October 2026, from 18:27 to 19:23 UTC, while the website moved to its new server, the new server logged the full IP address of requests that used the plain
http://address. These lines are deleted on 27 October 2026. - A few older log lines of our radio server hold full IP addresses. They are deleted by 27 October 2026.
We will update this section when the deletion is complete.
3. The radio bar
Every page of this website has a bar that plays Gradiva Radio, our own radio. The radio runs at radyo.gradiva.co.uk, on the same server in Germany as this website. No other company takes part.
What the bar does when a page opens.
- It tries to start playing the radio. To play it, your browser connects to our radio server (over WebSocket and WebRTC, the usual ways a browser plays live sound). If your browser does not let sound start by itself, the bar does not connect for sound; it waits, and your first click or tap on the page starts the radio. If you muted the radio on an earlier visit, the bar connects and plays silently until you unmute it.
- While the radio is not playing and the page is in view, the bar asks our radio server about once a minute whether the radio is on air, and hangs up straight away.
- It reads the radio's current sound settings and the number of people listening from our radio server. While the radio plays on your page you are counted in that number, and when it stops or you close the page you are taken off. The number is only a count, kept in the server's memory; the radio keeps listener numbers over time as totals, never as a list of listeners. While the radio plays, this connection stays open even if the tab is in the background. When the radio is not playing and the tab is hidden, it closes.
What reaches our radio server. Like any connection, these connections show our radio server your IP address and the technical details your browser sends with every request. The radio server uses them only to send you the sound, the settings and the count while you are connected. It does not store your IP address (apart from the older lines listed in section 2).
What the bar stores on your device. Nothing, until you press one of its controls. When you play or pause the radio, mute or unmute it, or move the volume slider, your browser remembers that choice so that the next page you open behaves the same way. It keeps up to three entries in your browser's local storage: gradiva-radio-paused, gradiva-radio-muted and gradiva-radio-volume. They stay on your device and are never sent to us or to anyone else. Your device's own media keys (for example play and pause) count as pressing a control.
To refuse or remove these entries, clear this website's data in your browser settings (often called "site data"), or set your browser to block storage for this site. The radio still works without them; your choice then lasts only for the page you are on.
4. Why we do this and our legal basis
The radio. The radio is part of what Gradiva makes, and we offer it on our pages so that visitors can hear it. Connecting your browser to our radio server is necessary to play it; our legal basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR), and your IP address is used only while it is needed to deliver the sound. The entries on your device are there only so that the radio behaves the way you chose. The UK rules on storing information on your device allow this without asking for consent, because it is needed for something you asked for and it adapts the site to your preference (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, regulation 6 and Schedule A1, paragraphs 4 and 6).
Technical logs. Our legal basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR): keeping the website and our server secure and working. We shorten IP addresses and keep the logs for up to 15 days, so that they cannot be used to follow anyone.

6. Who receives data
We do not give data from this website or the radio bar to analytics, advertising or other third parties.
Our website and our radio are hosted on a server that we rent from Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany). Hetzner is our hosting provider and handles data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
7. Where your data is processed
Our website and our radio run on a server in a data centre in Nuremberg, Germany, rented from Hetzner Online GmbH. Germany is outside the United Kingdom. UK data protection law has adequacy regulations that cover the European Economic Area, including Germany, so we do not need an extra safeguard for this.
Until 12 October 2026 the website ran on a Hetzner server in the United States. The United States is also outside the United Kingdom, and we had no separate safeguard in place for that server. This is one reason we moved the website to Germany. The logs that remain on that server are listed in section 2 and are being deleted.
8. Your rights
Your right to object. You can object at any time, without giving a reason. Write to privacy@gradiva.co.uk and we will reply and explain what we can and cannot do. If you do not want your browser to connect to the radio at all, you can block radyo.gradiva.co.uk in your browser or with an extension; every page works without it. Pausing the radio closes the sound connections, and your browser then remembers that you paused it.
Your other rights. You have the right to ask us what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to limit how we use it. Because we keep no record of visits and shorten IP addresses in our logs, we usually cannot find or pick out anything about you. If we cannot, we will tell you so and why, within one month and free of charge. We do not make decisions about you with this data, and no automated decision-making is involved.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy about how we handle your personal data, please tell us first at privacy@gradiva.co.uk. We will confirm that we have received your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay, and tell you the outcome.
You also have the right to complain to the UK data protection regulator, the Information Commission (until 30 September 2026 the Information Commissioner's Office, ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
10. Careers pages and other websites
If you apply for a job with us, or visit our careers pages at basvuru.gradiva.co.uk, our separate notice Privacy in hiring applies. The websites we link to are run separately and have their own notices.
11. Changes
When what we do changes, we change this page and the date at the top. We will replace this notice with a fuller one if we start counting visits.

2. Siteyi ziyaret edince ne olur
Tarayıcın sunucumuzdan bir sayfa istediğinde istekle birlikte bazı teknik bilgiler gelir: IP adresin, istediğin sayfa, tarayıcın ve cihazın kısa bir tarifi ("user agent") ve tarayıcın gönderiyorsa geldiğin sitenin adı. Neler yapmayız:

3. Radyo çubuğu
Bu sitenin her sayfasında, kendi radyomuz Gradiva Radyo'yu çalan bir çubuk var. Radyo, radyo.gradiva.co.uk adresinde, bu siteyle aynı Almanya'daki sunucuda çalışır. İşin içinde başka bir şirket yoktur.
Sayfa açılınca çubuk ne yapar.
- Radyoyu çalmaya başlamayı dener. Çalmak için tarayıcın radyo sunucumuza bağlanır (WebSocket ve WebRTC ile; tarayıcıların canlı sesi çalmak için kullandığı olağan yollar). Tarayıcın sesin kendiliğinden başlamasına izin vermezse çubuk ses için bağlanmaz; bekler ve sayfada ilk tıklaman ya da dokunuşun radyoyu başlatır. Radyoyu daha önceki bir ziyaretinde sessize aldıysan çubuk bağlanır ve sen sesi açana kadar sessiz çalar.
- Radyo çalmıyorken ve sayfa ekrandayken çubuk, radyo sunucumuza yaklaşık dakikada bir radyonun yayında olup olmadığını sorar ve hemen kapatır.
- Radyonun o anki ses ayarlarını ve kaç kişinin dinlediğini radyo sunucumuzdan okur. Radyo senin sayfanda çalarken o sayıya sen de girersin; durunca ya da sayfayı kapatınca sayıdan çıkarsın. Bu sayı yalnız bir sayıdır ve sunucunun belleğinde durur; radyo, dinleyici sayılarını zaman içinde yalnız toplam olarak tutar, hiçbir zaman dinleyici listesi olarak tutmaz. Radyo çalarken bu bağlantı, sekme arka planda olsa da açık kalır. Radyo çalmıyorsa ve sekme gizliyse kapanır.
Radyo sunucumuza ne ulaşır. Her bağlantı gibi bu bağlantılar da radyo sunucumuza IP adresini ve tarayıcının her istekle gönderdiği teknik bilgileri gösterir. Radyo sunucusu bunları yalnız sen bağlıyken sana sesi, ayarları ve sayıyı göndermek için kullanır. IP adresini saklamaz (2. bölümde sayılan eski satırlar dışında).
Çubuk cihazına ne yazar. Kontrollerinden birine basana kadar hiçbir şey. Radyoyu başlattığında ya da durdurduğunda, sesini kapattığında ya da açtığında, ya da ses düzeyini kaydırdığında tarayıcın bu seçimini hatırlar; böylece açtığın bir sonraki sayfa da aynı şekilde davranır. Tarayıcının yerel depolamasında (local storage) en fazla üç girdi tutar: gradiva-radio-paused, gradiva-radio-muted ve gradiva-radio-volume. Bunlar cihazında kalır; bize ya da başkasına hiç gönderilmez. Cihazının kendi medya tuşları (örneğin oynat ve duraklat) da kontrole basmak sayılır.
Bu girdileri istemiyorsan ya da silmek istiyorsan tarayıcı ayarlarından bu sitenin verilerini temizle ("site verileri" diye geçer) ya da tarayıcını bu site için depolamayı engelleyecek şekilde ayarla. Radyo onlarsız da çalışır; o zaman seçimin yalnız bulunduğun sayfa için geçerli olur.
4. Neden yapıyoruz, hukuki dayanak
Radyo. Radyo, Gradiva'nın yaptığı işlerin bir parçası; ziyaretçiler dinleyebilsin diye onu sayfalarımızda sunuyoruz. Radyoyu çalmak için tarayıcının radyo sunucumuza bağlanması gerekir; hukuki dayanağımız meşru menfaattir (UK GDPR madde 6(1)(f)) ve IP adresin yalnız sesi ulaştırmak için gerektiği sürece kullanılır. Cihazındaki girdiler yalnız radyo senin seçtiğin gibi davransın diye vardır. Birleşik Krallık'ın cihaza bilgi yazmayla ilgili kuralları buna onay istemeden izin verir; çünkü bu, senin istediğin bir şey için gereklidir ve siteyi senin tercihine uydurur (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, madde 6 ve Ek A1, paragraf 4 ve 6).

6. Veriyi kim alır
Bu siteden ya da radyo çubuğundan çıkan veriyi analitik, reklam ya da başka üçüncü taraflara vermeyiz.
Web sitemiz ve radyomuz, Hetzner Online GmbH'den (Almanya) kiraladığımız bir sunucuda barınır. Hetzner barındırma sağlayıcımızdır ve veriyi bir veri işleme sözleşmesi çerçevesinde bizim adımıza işler.
7. Veri nerede işlenir
Web sitemiz ve radyomuz, Hetzner Online GmbH'den kiraladığımız, Almanya'nın Nürnberg kentindeki bir veri merkezinde duran sunucuda çalışır. Almanya Birleşik Krallık'ın dışındadır. Birleşik Krallık veri koruma hukukunda, Almanya dahil Avrupa Ekonomik Alanı'nı kapsayan yeterlilik düzenlemeleri vardır; bu yüzden bunun için ayrıca bir güvenceye ihtiyacımız yok.
12 Ekim 2026'ya kadar site, Hetzner'in ABD'deki bir sunucusunda çalışıyordu. ABD de Birleşik Krallık'ın dışındadır ve o sunucu için ayrıca bir güvencemiz yoktu. Siteyi Almanya'ya taşımamızın bir nedeni bu. O sunucuda kalan kayıtlar 2. bölümde sayıldı ve siliniyor.
8. Hakların
İtiraz hakkın. İstediğin zaman, gerekçe göstermeden itiraz edebilirsin. privacy@gradiva.co.uk adresine yaz; sana yanıt verir, neler yapıp neler yapamayacağımızı açıklarız. Tarayıcının radyoya hiç bağlanmasını istemiyorsan radyo.gradiva.co.uk adresini tarayıcında ya da bir eklentiyle engelleyebilirsin; her sayfa onsuz da çalışır. Radyoyu durdurmak ses bağlantılarını kapatır; tarayıcın da durdurduğunu hatırlar.
Diğer hakların. Hakkında hangi kişisel verileri tuttuğumuzu sorabilir, düzeltilmesini ya da silinmesini isteyebilir ve kullanımını kısıtlayabilirsin. Ziyaret kaydı tutmadığımız ve kayıtlarımızdaki IP adreslerini kısalttığımız için çoğu zaman senin hakkında bulabileceğimiz ya da ayırabileceğimiz bir şey olmaz. Olmazsa bunu ve nedenini, bir ay içinde ve ücretsiz olarak sana yazarız. Bu veriyle hakkında karar vermeyiz; otomatik karar verme yoktur.
9. Şikâyet
Kişisel verilerini nasıl işlediğimizden memnun değilsen önce privacy@gradiva.co.uk adresine yaz. Şikâyetini aldığımızı 30 gün içinde teyit eder, gecikmeden inceler ve sonucu sana bildiririz.
Birleşik Krallık'ın veri koruma kurumu Information Commission'a da (30 Eylül 2026'ya kadar Information Commissioner's Office, ICO) şikâyet etme hakkın var: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
